I am a medievalist by background (my PhD focused on the cultural identity of the Normans). I’m now based in media and cultural studies, focusing on video games and history, with an emphasis on the ways in which players act as historians in relation to the games they play. I’ve also tried to use the frame of the medieval to understand some of the activities taking place in game communities (e.g. the writing of history as the performance of ‘princely’ power).
